The knowledge and awareness of the creativity of ceremony in one’s daily life can begin at a young age when exemplified by parents, elders and teachers on this path. Rite of passage tools are necessary and vital to reclaim this missing link in our culture over several generations.
My ceremonial experiences began in my early twenties through my introduction to Harley “Swiftdeer” and the Deer Tribe. I participated in six of their sundance ceremonies (1990, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2001) as a dancer and numerous sweatlodge or purification ceremonies. I experienced my vision quest ceremony at 25 years old on a 40-acre property owned by a friend in northern Michigan. I immediately realized the necessity and value of a “balanced” puberty rite of passage as well as a rite of passage for the path of soul. I continue to weave selected streams of knowledge embracing the spirituality of ceremony and sharing the tools necessary for awakening on this path.
